I am proud to announce Southside got 1st place in The 44th annual Shelbyville Christmas Parade. A thank you too everyone who help with this float.
Bedford County churches of Christ March 5, 2017; 2:30 p.m. Southside will host our sister churches in this new format. Youth will be meeting at the Fellowship House for devo and fellowship. Adults will meet in this auditorium for singing and preaching. Randy Davis will be preaching. Join us to welcome our guest.
1 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2 By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? 3 Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. 6 For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with,[a] that we should no longer be slaves to sin— 7 because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.
8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. 9 For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. 10 The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.
11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. 12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. 13 Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. 14 For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.
15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means! 16 Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? 17 But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching that has now claimed your allegiance. 18 You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.
19 I am using an example from everyday life because of your human limitations. Just as you used to offer yourselves as slaves to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer yourselves as slaves to righteousness leading to holiness. 20 When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. 21 What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death! 22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in[b] Christ Jesus our Lord.

Southside will host the Bedford County Meeting, We are going to sing and praise God from 5:30 to 6:45. Neil, Chris and Troy will lead us. At 6:45 Refreshments will be served at the Fellowship House. (Sign up this morning to bring Home-made Ice Cream, Watermelon, or Cookies. The Singing and Fellowship will be Great!
Southside's V.B.S. begins tonight, Classes 6:45 p. m. until 8:30 p. m. through Wednesday night, June 22. Classes for all ages.

From Jeff’s Desk….
Jerry Bates with World Evangelism is with us today. He and wife Paula have long received support from Southside. Through personal evangelism, Christian publications, schools of preaching, radio and television, this good work has planted congregations, trained preachers, and shared the Gospel of Christ in Asia, and India in particular. Jerry and Paula take at least two extended trips overseas each year. The real “boots on the ground” are the citizens of these distant countries who are Christians and now sustain, the many congregations that have been planted. Today, Jerry will preach in our 9:00 a.m. service. During Sunday school, Paula Bates will meet with the women back in Room #11, while Jerry meets with all others in the auditorium. All adults are encouraged to one of these classes. Youth classes through Senior high will meet as usual.
Prior Preparation Prevents Poor Performance. These five P’s serve us well as we get ready for a fantastic Summer Mission 2016.
The Honduras Mission Trip is in full prep mode as Michael and the team prepare for a week with Mission Up Reach. The team will conduct a V.B.S. and construction project called the Moses Project during the week of June 4 to 11. The cost of this trip will exceed $40,000. You have given generously, and the team has worked tirelessly to raise as much of that as possible.
Our Southside Vacation Bible School will be here on June 19-22. Troy is ordering material, arranging teachers and making plans right now. There is a team meeting for our V.B.S. on Sunday, May 15 @ 4:00. We need you on this team. We need teachers, group leaders, refreshment workers, transportation drivers, and a lot more. This year, we hope to see increased attendance from some local families who will fall in love with the Southside experience during our V.B.S.. You can make this happen!!!
Bible Camp will be new and different this year at Short Mountian, July 3-8.. Chris and team are working on staff and the Bible program right now. We have invited participation from our sister congregations in Bedford County to make this a great week of ministering to Bedford county kids. We need your kids. We need counselors, Bible teachers, crafts people and a whole lot more. Let Chris know if you can serve all or part of that week.
There is another “P”.Pray for Southside Summer Mission 2016. Pray for safety, pray for success, pray for the souls that will be touched, including the souls of those who serve on each team.
